Scope
As an Event Manager and Expereince Designer for WSJ. Magazine’s 2023 Innovator Awards at The Museum of Modern Art, I was responsible for crafting a guest experience that matched the prestige of the publication. From spatial design to tech integration, the scope included full ownership of all visual touchpoints: on-screen digital displays, step and repeats, printed signage, and branded moments. One unique challenge was designing a sleek, user-friendly way for attendees to access photos from the event in real time — without resorting to QR codes.
Process
Rooted in a design-first mindset, I led the development of a frictionless photo-sharing system that felt integrated and intuitive. Partnering with UK-based tech company Seritag, I created minimalist PVC cards embedded with NFC chips that linked to live photo galleries from Getty and BFA. These were placed at high-touch locations — cocktail tables, place settings, and gift bags — allowing guests to “tap to view” just like Apple Pay. At the same time, I designed all digital and physical branding for the event: a clean, elegant system of screen graphics, signage, and wayfinding that subtly reinforced WSJ’s visual authority without overpowering the iconic MoMA setting.
Solution
The result was an experience as refined and forward-thinking as the awardees themselves. Every element — from NFC integration to signage — was carefully designed to feel modern, minimal, and beautifully cohesive. Guests engaged with content effortlessly, and the event stood out as a model for how thoughtful design and quiet tech can elevate even the most exclusive environments.
